Funeral Mass for Jay Hushka, 62, of Dickinson, ND will be 1:00 p. m. Monday, September 21, 2009 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph?s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary Service taking place at 4:00 p. m. Visitation will continue from 8:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m. Monday, September 21, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Jay was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, September, 16, 2009. Jay J. Hushka was born February 9, 1947 in Dickinson, ND to Anton and Maryann (Klemm) Hushka. He grew up in Dickinson and attended Roosevelt and St. Joseph schools. After high school, Jay joined the U. S. Navy and served in Japan. After being honorably discharged in 1971, Jay lived in CA where he spent the next 20 years working various jobs and volunteer work. In 1990 Jay returned to Dickinson and has made his home here since. Jay volunteered countless hours at St. Joseph Hospital and St. Luke?s Nursing Home in Dickinson. Jay was very proud of his military service. In earlier years, he liked traveling. Jay enjoyed spending time with his family and especially returning home for the holidays. He will always be remembered for his giving heart and willingness to help those in need. Jay will be missed by his loving companion, Shinowa. He was a life member of the VFW, a member of German Hungarian Club, St. Anthony?s Club, American Legion and St. Patrick?s Catholic Church. He is survived by his sister, Shirley (Roger) Koffler, Dickinson; brother, Ray Hushka, Jamestown, ND; brother-in-law, Eli Kramer, Denver, CO; nieces, Marlene, Margaret and Marie Kramer, Sandra Koffler and Pamela Jahner; great niece, Andrea and a great nephew, Norman Hanson. Jay is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, May Ann Kramer; an infant brother, James, sister-in-law, Sandra Hushka and numerous aunts and uncles.
