Jean Carman Porter was born August 17, 1923 to William and Pearl (Millermen) Porter in Eureka, MT. She grew up and attended school in Eureka. Her and her girlfriend left at the age of 16 to find a job in Kalispell, MT. After living there a short time, they moved to Spokane, WA, where Jean began working for an aluminum plant. It was during this time that she met Emmett Harmon. Jean and Emmett married on June 26, 1944 in Spokane, WA. To this union four children were born: Billie, Hazel, Russ, and Dustin.
Jean loved raising and caring for her family. She was often known as a gypsy, moving place to place, even if it was in the same town. Jean accepted her time in the nursing home and genuinely enjoyed the company and those who took care of her.
