Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial for Jenny Gerhart, 85, of Dickinson Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003 at 10:00 a. m. in the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church with Father Taras Miles celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, north of Belfield.
Visitation will be on Monday from 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. continuing on Tuesday from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. followed by a parastas at 7:00 p. m. in the Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel.
Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass at the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Jenny passed away on August 29, 2003 at her home in Dickinson.
She was born on May 27, 1918 in Snow, North Dakota the daughter of George and Katherine (Krivoruchka) Gregory. She grew up and attended schools in Billings County. Jenny was married to John Gerhart on November 23, 1939 at Lake Mills, WI. To this union six children were born. They made their home in western North Dakota and for the last 56 years Jenny has made Dickinson her home.
For thirty-five years, Jenny was a waitress and then the baker at Binek’s Cafe, Sims Cafe and the Ivanhoe. Even after retirement, she continued to bake for her special customers and family.
Jenny enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and family, attending Ukrainian activities, and listening to old time music. She was a member of the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church of Fairfield, The St. Anthony Club, Eagles Club, German-Hungarian Club, UCI and the Dickinson Singles.
Survivors include, four sons, John Jr. (Ginger) Gerhart, Great Falls, MT, Bill Gerhart, Merritt Island, FL, Don (Carol) Gerhart, Great Falls, MT and Mike (Shirley) Gerhart, Dickinson, a daughter, Mary (Tom) Gavaghan, Aurora, OH; two sisters, Ann Nordahl, Dickinson, Betty (Cal) Drumm, Davenport, Iowa, a brother, Tony (Helen) Gregory, Lemmon, SD, two sisters-in-law, Josephine Gregory, Fairfield, Ethel Gregory, Vancouver, WA; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, three sisters, two brothers and an infant daughter, preceded her in death.
