Funeral services for Jerome Kottre, 79, of Glen Ullin, ND will be at 10:30 a. m. CST, Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at St. John?s Church in Hebron, ND with Pastor Gaylund Olson officiating. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veteran?s Cemetery in Mandan, ND at 2:00 p. m. CST. Visitation will be from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Monday, November 2, 2009 at Spangelo-Stevenson Funeral Home in Glen Ullin, ND. Jerome passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Marian Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin, ND. Jerome J. Kottre was born October 17, 1930 on the family farm in Mercer County, ND to Joseph and Selma (Kinnischtzke) Kottre. He grew up on the homestead, North of Glen Ullin and attended country school. After schooling, Jerome worked on the homestead until 1951 when he was inducted into military service. He served as Corporal in Korea in the 187th Airborne Battalion. He was then transferred to the Army Reserve. He completed his eight year service obligation and was honourably discharged in 1960. He then returned to Glen Ullin and farmed the family homestead for four years until moving to the West Coast. While out West, Jerome worked as a foreman for IBEW Electrical Construction for 27 years. After retirement he moved back to Glen Ullin in 1988, where he enjoyed his small farm operation and restored some old farm tractors. Jerome enjoyed his old time music and playing the clarinet. He also enjoyed the outdoors and animals. His greatest love was restoring his old tractors and farm equipment. Jerome is survived by his brother, Oliver (Delaine),Glen Ullin, ND sisters, Kathleen (Richard) Roth and Irene Kottre, both of Glen Ullin, ND, a brother-in-law, Ernest Hellman, Glen Ullin, ND; sister-in-law, Lynda Kottre along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ivan, sister, Lenora Hellman and a nephew, Courtney Roth.
