Jerome Tveter

A funeral service for Jerome Tveter, 79, of Dickinson, formerly of Columbus, ND, will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Natwick officiating.  Burial will take place at a later date.


Visitation for Jerome will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.


Jerome passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at his home in Dickinson surrounded by his family.


Jerome M. Tveter was born August 22, 1938 to Rueben and Hilda (Thingvold) Tveter at Powers Lake, ND. He grew up in the coal mines in northwestern North Dakota and attended the Ely and Coal Valley grade schools and graduated from Columbus High School. During the summer months, from the 5
th
grade through his junior year in high school, he helped around his grandfather’s farm, hauling rocks, throwing hay bales, milking cows, and riding horses.


In 1955, Jerome married his high school sweetheart and the love his life, Marlyne (Mader) and they raised four wonderful children.


After graduating from high school, he worked briefly on road construction, operating heavy equipment and rough necking in the ND oil fields before joining Montana-Dakota Utilities as a utility man at the Kincaid Power Plant in 1958. In September 2003 after 45 years with the company, he retired as Regional Manager in Dickinson, ND.


In his pastime, he liked to golf, fish, listen to polka, waltz, country western, and piano music. His favorite times were spent with family, his wife, two daughters, and two sons who gave him immense pride as did his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marlyne Tveter of Dickinson; four children, Kevin (Jayne) Tveter of Morgantown, WV, and their children, Matt (Holly) Tveter and children Layla and Sam of Minneapolis, MN, Meghan (JD) Savage and their children Brodie, Briggs, and Madelyn of Shreveport, LA, Chris Tveter of Boston, MA and Andy Tveter of Minneapolis, MN, Tami (Dan) Woods of Cincinnati, OH and their children Jacqlyn Woods of Cincinnati, OH and Joe (Lauren) Woods and their child, Hannah, of Cincinnati, OH, Wade (Kristen) Tveter of Cheyenne, WY and Susan (Dave) Hoesel of Dickinson, ND and their children Tyler (Leighton) Ward of Dickinson, ND, Kelsey (John) Ennis and their child, JC, of Dickinson, ND, NaTasha (Justin) Sailer and their child Emmitt of Beulah, ND, Bryant Hoesel (Megan Mosbrucker) and their child, Avery, of Dickinson, ND; sister, Shelly (Clif) Sundt of Williston, ND; brother, Dean (Lois) Tveter of New Town, ND, brother Jim (Joyce) Tveter of Watford City, ND, brother Shannon (Cindy) Tveter of Dunnellon, FL; brother-in-law, Rodney (Cleo) Mader of Yuma, AZ; along with many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by twin daughters; his parents, Hilda and Rueben Tveter; one brother, Rolland Tveter; one sister, Arlos Adams; in-laws Pat and Alma Mader; and one brother-in-law, Kevin Mader.
