Mass of Christian burial for Jerry Kovash, 94, of Dickinson will be 10:00 am, Wednesday December 17, 2008 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 am to 9 pm, Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7 p. m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Jerry passed away December 12, 2008 at St. Benedict?s Health Center Dickinson, ND. Jerry J. Kovash was born April 28, 1914 on the family farm in Dunn County near New Hradec, ND to John and Frances (Kubas) Kovash. He grew up and attended country school in Dunn County. He moved to Dickinson with his mother as a young boy and also worked for other family members on their farms. On November 19, 1934, Jerry and Victoria Jablonsky were united in marriage at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, New Hradec, ND. They homesteaded in Dunn County where they began their farming career and raised their family of four children. They moved into Dickinson in the early 1960?s but continued farming. Jerry?s enjoyments in his retired years included bowling, gardening and growing roses being his specialty. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and for many years served daily as an altar boy. In 2000, he moved to Evergreen Retirement Living and in 2006 due to health reasons moved into St. Benedict Nursing Home. As long as his health allowed he led many daily rosaries at Evergreen and St. Benedicts. Jerry was very proud of being part of five generation member. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Club and Catholic Workman?s Group (F. S. C. L. A. ). He also served on various boards and was very generous with volunteering his time, talents and carpentry skills. Jerry is survived by; son, David (Connie) Kovash, Bismarck, ND; daughters, Gladys (Florian) Volesky, Belfield, ND, Jeanette Geiss, Mandan, ND, daughter-in-law, Rose Marie Kovash, Manning, ND; 16 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by; parents, wife, Victoria; son, Donald; brothers; Steve, Frank, Pete, Louie and Tony; sisters, Mary Dvorak, Rose Hanel, Agnes Bezdicek, Emma Kadrmas and Anne Kostelecky; 2 great grandchildren.
