Jerry passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive, MT. Jerry Lee Pratt was born on March 16, 1951, in Peru, IN and grew up in the Ismay, Plevna and Baker area where he attended schools in Plevna and later Baker. Following school he worked briefly in the oilfield and then moved to Billings, MT where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Stolzenberg Construction. Jerry met the love of his life JoDee Huckins, and the two were married on February 23, 1974 at American Lutheran Church in Baker. To this union two daughters were born, Jennefer Lynn and Johnna Lee. Jerry and JoDee lived in Billings until 1978 when Stolzenberg went out of business. Jerry enjoyed and excelled at his job operating scrapers, blades and dozers. Two proud accomplishments while in Billings were the dirt work for the construction of the Metra Arena and the placement of the large boulder rocks surrounding the Metra. After returning to Baker, Jerry went to work for Gordon Wilson Construction in Scranton, ND; Tri State Well Service and eventually for Griffith Excavation in Baker. Jerry was known throughout the business as an exceptional equipment operator and as having an eye for finishing work. When he was done it was smooth and level. One of his many dreams became reality in the late 90?s, Jerry purchased his own equipment and operated it with Griffith?s. He would always find time to help a friend build a new road or reconstruct an existing road to their place. Jerry enjoyed being around people and visiting with them. Jerry loved his family and made every effort to be a part of his daughters? lives. Being a grandpa was very special for Jerry. He loved spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren. Teaching his grandchildren the ?Philosophy of Grampa Duck? was his biggest enjoyment. They were his world. Jerry was a hard worker and strong man who loved his family and friends. Jerry left this world early morning Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 doing what he loved to do; running heavy equipment in the north Pine Unit Oilfield. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife of 37 years, JoDee of Baker, MT; two daughters, Jennefer Pratt (Greg Wheeler) and Johnna Graham both of Baker, MT; four grandchildren, Logan, Harlee, Jocelyn and Brady Graham all of Baker, MT; his parents, Harold and Esther Pratt of Dickinson, ND; a brother, Jim (Bobette) Harper of Greentown, IN; a sister, Vickie (Jeff) Simons of Houston, TX and nieces and nephews Amanda Kell, Adam Dockter, Bryan Harper, Dan Harper, Jill Ertel, Holly Bohle, Megan Barnes, and Seth Norman. And his many friends and extended family.
