Funeral Service for Jessie Mae Neary, 75, of Baker, MT will be at 2:00 p. m. on Monday, July 26, 2010, in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT with Rev. Bruce Kolasch officiating. Interment will follow in the Howe family lot in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker. Visitation will be 10:00 a. m. until the time of service on Monday. Jessie passed away at her home in Baker on Monday, July 19, 2010. Jessie Mae Howe was born on November 12, 1934, a daughter of Leonard W. and Myrtle L. (Munyon) Howe in Plevna, MT. She spent her early years at the Howe homestead near Westmore. At the age of 7, Jessie and her parents moved to Baker where she attended school; graduating from Baker High School. Following graduation, Jessie attended Black Hills Teacher’s College at Spearfish, SD. She returned to Fallon County where she taught one year at the Ehret country school. Jessie met Gerald O. Neary and the two were married on September 5, 1954, at the Baker Community Church. To this union Cindy and Pat were born. Jessie and Gerald would later divorce but remain life long friends. Following her marriage, Jessie lived in Baker. She worked at various places including , the Baker Hotel, J. C. Penny?s and Reynolds she eventually went to work in the Fallon County Clerk & Recorders office as the Deputy, a position she held until her retirement. While working for Reynolds and Fallon County, Jessie worked nights for 21 years at the Green Acres Supper Club. Following her retirement, Jessie became very active in the senior citizens and Red Hats Society. She was a charter member of the humane society. Through out the years Jessie enjoyed bowling and was a league bowler. She provided the means of transportation for people who had an out of town appointment or shopping trip. Jessie enjoyed playing reading, crocheting, sewing, pinochle, dancing, shopping and being with her friends, but her greatest love in life was for her family. Jessie loved life and lived it to its fullest. Jessie is survived by her two children, Cindy (James) Atkins and Pat Neary both of Baker, MT; her former husband, Gerald Neary of Worland, WY; two sisters, Dorothy (Clair) Gruver of Las Vegas, NV and Betty Stroud of Fort Riley, KS; one brother, Ben E. (Allison) Howe of Reno, NV; five grandchildren, Rikki Rae Clarke, Kasi Lyn (Matt) Stanhope, Amanda Mae Neary, Tate Olson and Lacey Mae Olson, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William K Howe and Frank G. Howe, two sisters, Mary M. Tate and her infant sister, Elsie Howe, a nephew Brandon Stroud, 2 nieces, Brenda Howe and Connie Howe Marx, brother-in-law Bernell Pfeifle and sister-in-law Karen Michels Howe.
