Jimmie Bechhold

Jimmie Bechhold, 66, of Glen Ullin, ND passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at his home in Glen Ullin, due to health problems. Funeral Mass for Jimmie Bechhold, will be at 10 a. m. (CST), Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, ND with Father Sebastian Schmidt, O. S. B. celebrating. Cremation has taken place and burial will be held at a later date in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Glen Ullin, ND. Visitation will be from 5 p. m. to 8 p. m. , (CST), Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with a rosary and vigil service at 7p. m. (CST). Jimmie was born on the family farm, 16 miles north of Glen Ullin, June 3, 1943, the son of John and Frances (Geck) Bechhold. He was raised on that farm until he was 5 years old. Then in 1948, the family bought and moved to a farm 10? miles northeast of Glen Ullin. Jimmie attended country schools, then Sacred Heart Catholic School, and graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1961. As a young teenager, he helped his father work the family farm eventually renting his own land to farm. He continued farming together with his father until his father?s death in 1972. Jimmie then bought and owned his parent?s farm and continued farming until his retirement in 2004. As frustrating as farm life could be at times, Jimmie?s farm was his livelihood and his life. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by one brother, Gerald (Lucille) Bechhold, Bismarck, ND, one sister, Jean Bechhold, Glen Ullin, ND, one nephew, Robert Bechhold and one niece, Christine Bechhold. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
