Memorial service for Jimmy “Jim” Dale Gibson, 78, of Dickinson, ND will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home Dickinson, ND. Military rites will be presented by the Dickinson Honor Guard. Burial will take place later this spring in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.


Jimmy Dale Gibson was born October 10, 1932 in Cleveland, ND to Ross and Lois (Lee) Gibson. He grew up in Cleveland until the family moved to Dickinson in 1938. Jim began his schooling in Dickinson. The family moved several times throughout Jim’s childhood and he attended schools in Napa, Idaho and Wolf Point, MT. He later served in the US Army for several years before choosing to return to Dickinson, ND. While in Dickinson, he attended college but found his enjoyment and passion for life was playing percussion instruments and vocals. He loved to travel and his travels took him to Russia, Australia,and throughout the Midwestern United States. He especially enjoyed his time spent on a “Hailey Comet” Cruise and also a cruise to the Mediterranean. Jim married Adaline Johnson and to this union two children were born.


Jim is survived by his son, Jay (Anna) Gibson, West Fargo, ND; his daughter, Billie, Dickinson, ND; a grandson, Rob, Jamestown State College; one sister, Harriett McMaster, Wolf Point, MT; lifelong friend, Ted (Ka-Ted) Kostelecky and special friends and caregivers, Lorris Wetzel and Jerry Weiss.


He is preceded in death by both parents and special friend, Arleen Wooden Gibson.
