Mass of Christian Burial for John K. Krebs, 79, of Dickinson, is 11:00 a. m. on Friday, October 17, 2003, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father James Braaten, celebrating. Interment will be at 1:30 p. m. at New England Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson ChapelJohn passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at his home. John was born February 14, 1924, in rural Stark County, ND to Kasper and Mary (Klupp) Krebs. He grew up and attended country school in rural Lefor, ND. John began helping with the family farm as well as mining surface coal to support his family. On July 7, 1948, John married Evelyn Semerad in New Hradec, ND. John worked construction and then began working for Slope Electric as a lineman in 1950 and remained with the company for 27 years. After retiring from Slope Electric, he continued to operate his appliance and small engine repair service until his vision loss. John and Evelyn continued to make Dickinson their home. John was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, New England and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson along with the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered his time calling bingo and visiting the local nursing homes. He shared a love for people but children were extremely special in his heart. John provided daycare for his granddaughter, Kellye and played the roll of St. Nicholas on St. Nick day for St. Wenceslaus School. He enjoyed coffee with his friends at Hardees and Happy Joe?s, listening to the Minnesota Twins and fishing whenever possible. John will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn of Dickinson, three sons, Fr. Bruce Krebs of Bismarck, ND, Deacon Brian (Char) Krebs of Long Grove, IA, Bernie Krebs (Jane Collins) of Dickinson; two daughters, Brenda (Jack) Todd of Blue Grass, IA, Bonnie (Bruce) Dick of Dickinson; three grandchildren, Shannon & Kellye Zuelke and Andrea Krebs; four brothers, Joseph S. (Elizabeth) Krebs of Mansfield, OH, Michael (Agnes) Krebs of Mansfield, OH, Kasper (Luella) Krebs of Dickinson, Philip (Aylin) Krebs of Fairfax, VA; two sisters, Suzanna Krebs Goff of Denver, CO and Elizabeth (George) Vandenberg of Vancouver, WA. His parents, a son, Barry, and sister, Marie preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, Memorials are preferred to Heartland Hospice, St. Benedict?s Health Center, National Eye Bank, Arc-Aid, or Fairview University Hospital Ophthalmology Department.
