A Graveside service for John Edward Langer, 84, of Bismarck, formerly of Hebron, will be held 11:00 a. m. , Wednesday, May 14th in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, El Paso, Wisconsin with Father Nathan Thanaise officiating. A memorial service will be held in North Dakota at a later date. John passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. John Edward Langer was born January 1, 1930 in El Paso, Wisconsin, the son of William and Mary Magdelin (Engle) Langer. He attended school there and later came to Taylor, North Dakota where he worked on a farm. On February 5, 1951, John married Ida Treiber in Greeley, Colorado. He then went to work for Seeger Refrigerator Company in St. Paul, MN. John and Ida returned to Hebron and worked with Ida’s father on the farm. They built their own place and were blessed with two children, Gary and Connie. John farmed and managed a dairy herd and a registered Hereford herd until the early 1980’s and then worked with his trucking business until 1989. He always enjoyed helping Gary on the farm. In recent years he enjoyed the winter months at his home in Arizona with his special companion, Ginny. John is survived by his son, Gary Langer of Bismarck; daughter, Connie (Jake) Taverna of Butte, MT; four grandchildren, Michael (Sarah), Chaz (Kayla), Garhett (Jasmine) all of Bismarck/ Mandan, and Jordan of Butte, MT and one great-grandson, Mason of Mandan. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marciel and Bernadine; two granddaughters, Dannielle and Khadija; brother, Eugene Langer; and special companion, Ginny Gradin.
