Funeral Services for John Lee, 68 of Grassy Butte will be 10:30 a. m. Saturday, July 9, 2005 at Grassy Butte Park in Grassy Butte. Burial will follow in the Grassy Butte Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, 2005 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson; Friday, July 8, 2005 from 11:00 a. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Killdeer; and Saturday, July 9, 2005 from 9:00 a. m. to 10:30 a. m. at Grassy Butte Park in Grassy Butte. John passed away Monday, July 4, 2005 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck. John was born January 2, 1937, one of four children to Owen and Bernice (Marucheck) Lee. He grew up on the family ranch in Grassy Butte where he began working at an early age as well as other area ranches. In addition, John spent 18 years working at the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park Service. John and Shirley Moen were married at Arnegard, ND on June 25, 1958. They then became the third generation to make their home and raise their children on the Lee ranch that still carries the original brand. He was a member of the McKenzie County Grazing Association for 30 years. He spent all of his life working on the ranch that he held so closely to his heart. John enjoyed his vacation home in Coeur d?Alene, Idaho. He was an avid hunter and fisherman whose outings led him to Idaho, Montana and Canada. John and Shirley enjoyed time spent on the ranch with family as well as traveling. John is survived by his wife, Shirley of 47 years, two daughters: Nancy (Mark) Savage and children: Nicholas and Matt Savage and Asha (Daniel) Akers of Lakeside, AZ; and Sam (Bud) Sherrodd and their children: Shauna and Sheyenne of Ballentine, MT; three sons: Mark (Linda) and his children: Beau and Campbell of Coeur d?Alene, ID; Michael (Leslie) and their children: Chaston, Tylon and Triston of Grassy Butte, ND; and Shawn (Janel) also of Grassy Butte, ND; two great-granddaughters: Jayden and Brook Akers; a brother: George (Debbie) Lee of Tucson, AZ; and two sisters: Charlotte King of Tucson, AZ; and Carole Engstler (Buck Baker) of Bozeman, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in ?law.
