John Slagh

A funeral service for John Slagh, 39, of Dickinson, will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating.


Visitation for John will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.


John passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck after an unexpected illness.


John Lee Slagh was born in Coos Bay, OR on June 16, 1979 the son of David D. Slagh and Sandra (Howley) Slagh. He grew up in Coos Bay and attended Marshfield High School.


John’s pride and joy were his children Bethany and Jeremiah with his first wife, Sarah Bennett. They were the light in his eyes and showed off their pictures every chance he was given.


John enjoyed fishing, playing cards, spending time with his friends, traveling with his wife, Lainey and their children, and helping others in need. His favorite vacation spot was the Black Hills in South Dakota, especially Deadwood.


John was preceded in death by his father, David D. Slagh; birth mother, Sandra Howley; grandmother, Ann Wahl; and his paternal grandparents.


John is survived by his wife, Elaine (Lainey) Slagh; daughter, Bethany Ann Slagh; son, Jeremiah Slagh; aunt and adoptive mother Catherine Demotte; grandfather, Gene Wahl; sister, Ann Magness; brother, David Slagh Jr; uncle, Darrell Allen; father -in-law, Larry Martel; several brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.


The family wishes to thank the ICU staff at Saint Alexius Hospital in Bismarck for caring for John during his illness.
