Jon Paul Fettig, 30, Dickinson, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, outside of Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Funeral services will be 1 p. m. MDT Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson. Interment will be in St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Dickinson. Military Rites will be provided by members of Jon?s unit, Company C, 164 Engineer Battalion (Corps) (Mechanized). Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon to 9 p. m. with a prayer service at 7 p. m. at the North Dakota Army National Guard Armory, 46 Museum Drive, Dickinson. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8 a. m. to 3 p. m. at the North Dakota Army National Guard Armory. Jon Paul Fettig was born January 3, 1973, in Dickinson. He attended Heart River Elementary in Dickinson, and graduated from Manzano High School in Albuquerque, NM. Jon entered the National Guard in 1991 and served in Albuquerque and Dickinson. Jon married Cody Ladwig on July 30, 1999. He worked for Bis-Man Security, Wal-Mart, McDonald?s, Happy Joe?s and Verizon Wireless. Jon was obtaining a degree as a computer programming specialist. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1137 and the Theodore Roosevelt Amateur Radio Club. He was an avid reader and loved video games and hunting. Jon was a gentle man of many colors. He touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He always had the famous smile on his face and a hand stretched out to anyone who needed help. Jon most enjoyed his time with his wife, Cody, his family and his cat, Tiger. Jon is survived by his wife, Cody; parents, Shirley and Larry Fettig; brother, Craig Fettig; sister, Tenille Fettig; mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Cheri and Robert Wiegand; father-in-law, Jim Ladwig; grandmothers, Theresa Knaup, Marie Fettig and Yvonne Fettig; brothers-in-law, Cory (Lisa) Ladwig and Donny Ladwig; nephews, Austin Wollschlager, Stephen, Arthur and Joshua Ladwig, niece, Kristina Ladwig; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his grandfathers, August Fettig and Lawrence Knaup; uncle, LaVern Fettig and several other relatives. In lieu of flowers the family strongly suggests a memorial in Jon?s name be given.
