Funeral services for Joseph M. Obrigewitch Jr. , 76, of Belfield, ND will be 10:00 a. m. Friday, February 20, 2009 at River of Life Church International in Dickinson, ND with Pastor James P. Hessler officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Bernard?s Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 p. m. – 9 p. m. , Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p. m. Joe passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson, ND. Joseph M. Obrigewitch Jr. was born May 8, 1932 to Joseph and Genevieve (Weisgerber) Obrigewitch on a farm in Billings County. He was raised on the family farm four miles north of Belfield. He attended school in Belfield through the 10th grade. After school, Joseph enlisted and served four years in the Navy. He met and married Magdalena Skalsky in 1959. To this union seven wonderful children were born. Joseph lived and worked on the family farm until moving into St. Benedict?s Health Care Center in January 2008, where he resided until he passed away. Besides working on the family farm, with his faithful blue heeler companion, he also drove school bus for over 30 years and also owned and operated an over the road truck. Joe loved tinkering in his shop and on his John Deere equipment. He enjoyed going to coffee and doughnuts with his family. Joe was happiest when his children and grandchildren were with him. They were the pride of his life. Joe generously gave of his time and talents to his fellow man. Joe attended the River of Life Assembly Church in Dickinson. He deeply loved the Lord and often shared his faith with others. He was also a member of the American Legion and the NRA. Joe is survived by his children, Joel (Joleen) Obrigewitch, Dickinson, ND, Karla (Myron) Roth, Bowman, ND, Karen Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND, Kurt Obrigewitch, Belfield, ND, Jennifer (John) Leingang, Castle Rock, CO and Amy Santoro, Castle Rock, CO; grandchildren, Alyssa, Lexi, Sara, Zach, Sam, Ben, Olivia, Jenna, Hunter, Taya and Trin; brothers, Alfred and Pat; sisters, Tillie Woodcock, Florence DiBenedetto and Gen Becker. He is preceded in death by both parents; his youngest son, Jaime; two brothers and three brothers-in-law.
