Joseph PrivratskyMass of Christian Burial for Joseph J. Privratsky, 66 of Dickinson will be held 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Jim Braaten celebrating. Burial will be at a later date in the Amidon Cemetery. Military Rites will be by the Dickinson Veteran?s Drill Team. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2005 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary & Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson with Deacon Bob Stockert officiating. Joseph passed away Friday, June 10, 2005 at the St. Joseph Hospital & Health Center in Dickinson. Joseph was born May 16, 1939 in Dunn County, the son of John S. and Caroline (Pavlicek) Privratsky. He was raised on the family farm north of Dickinson. Joseph attended country school and Model High School for one year. He worked on various farms as well as helping his parents. In 1957, he was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1959. After the service, Joseph began to work for Schwartz and Oberlander, a construction company in New England, for 12 years as a heavy equipment operator. Joseph was married to Eileen Koch in 1961 and to this union three children were brought into the family: Renee, Joselyn, and Darren. Joseph began working for Southwest Grain in New England where he was employed for 26 years when he retired due to illness. After retiring, Joseph married Mary Roller on May 27, 1988, and they made Dickinson their home. He enjoyed attending auction sales, tinkering and repairing anything and everything; he also was an avid western and old movie enthusiast. Joseph loved and cherished his family and grandchildren. Survivors include: his wife, Mary of Dickinson; a son: Darren (Shannon) Privratsky, Wahpeton, ND; two daughters: Joselyn Privratsky, Bismarck, ND and Renee (Donald) Gray, Brawley, CA; two step-sons: Jordan (Janet) Privratsky, Walford, IA and Paul (Greta) Privratsky, Belfield, ND; three step-daughters: Debra (Dean) Brandt, Enid, OK, Sharon (Alvin) Keller, Dickinson, ND and Gayle Olheiser, Lancaster, CA; two brothers: August (Margie) Privratsky and Adam (Shirley) Privratsky, both of Dickinson, ND; a sister: Eva Semerad, Walla Walla, WA; five grandchildren and 12 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Eileen; four step-sons: Calvin, Mark, Peter and Joseph; a brother, John Privratsky; three sisters: Caroline Wanner, Lillian Rasmussen, and an infant sister, Betty.
