Funeral Mass for Joseph ?Joe? Roth, Jr. 90, of Dickinson will be 11:00 a. m. , Friday, September 9, 2011 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, in Dickinson, ND with Father Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will be in St. Stephen?s Cemetery, rural Richardton. Visitation for Joe will be from 11 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home, in Dickinson, ND with a Rosary & Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Joe passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson, ND. Joe was born July 4, 1921 in Hettinger County, North Dakota, the son of Joe N. and Gisela (Wegesser) Roth. He grew up and attended country school in Hettinger County. As a young man he began farming with his parents. On March 9, 1943, Joe was married to Frances Greff at St. Placidus Catholic Church, north of Mott. To this union, four children were born: Roger, JoAnn, Margie and Duane. Joe and Frances purchased his parent?s farm where they farmed for the next 37 years. They retired and moved into Dickinson where they made their home. Joe with his strong work ethic continued to work part-time at Stockman?s Livestock Yard in Dickinson. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards. Joe especially loved family gatherings with the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and past member of St. Stephen?s Catholic Church which he helped build as a young man. Survivors include: his wife, Frances Roth, Dickinson, ND; a son, Duane (Cleora) Roth, Dickinson, ND; two daughters: JoAnn (Martin) Decker, Dickinson, ND and Margie (Richard) Lantz, Janesville, WI; eight grandchildren: Scott (Shelly) Decker, Blaine (Denise) Decker, Mark (Valerie) Decker, Jon (Jolene) Roth, Andrea Roth, Jenna Roth, Nicole Roth and Allan (Laura) Lantz; eight great-grandchildren: Jake Decker, Alaynea Decker, Bailey Decker, Jaydin Decker, Jenna Decker, Hayden Roth, Jeice Tibor and Ethan Lantz. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Roger Roth and two sisters: Mary Sprecher and Ann Bambush.
