Funeral Mass for Joseph Urbanec, 90, of Dickinson will be Saturday, September 4, 2004 at 10:00 a. m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Austin Vetter celebrating. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in New Hradec. Visitation will be Thursday, September 2, 2004, from 3:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson, Visitation will contine on Friday from 9:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, from 1:00 p. m. to 2:00 p. m. at St. Benedict?s Health Center, and from 3:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel with a Rosary service at 7:00 p. m. Joe passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at St. Benedict?s Heath Center in Dickinson. Joseph was born February 13, 1914 on the family farm in Dunn County, the son of Vincent and Frances (Kralicek) Urbanec. He grew up in New Hradec and helped full time on the family farm. On October 26, 1943 he was married to Hattie Nadvornick in Dickinson. After their marriage, they continued to farm in the New Hradec area until 1958 when they moved to Dickinson. Joe began working for the NDSU Experiment Station. In 1979 he retired and they continued to make Dickinson their home. He enjoyed playing his accordion at dances and parties for many years. His last performance was in July of 2004 when he played for his family at St. Benedicts. He especially loved his daughter, granddaughters and great-granddaughter. He was a Golden Member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Dickinson and St. Patrick?s Catholic Church. Joe was a member of the RSVP and the Happy Time Band. He also enjoyed playing with his cat ?Mouse? and watching wrestling on T. V. . Joe is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Ron Antonelli of Prescott Valley, AZ, two granddaughters, Lynette Dukart of Minneapolis, MN, Janel Dukart and her husband John Chapman, a great-granddaughter, Dakota Rose all of Wichita, KS, a sister, Lillian Lisko, Dickinson and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Hattie, his parents, five brothers and one sister.
