Joseph C. Weber, 88, New England, died Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Mott Good Samaritan Center, Mott. Funeral services are 2 p. m. , Saturday, February 18, 2006 at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England, with Chaplain James Oakland officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Anton Ulijohn Post #66. Interment will be Tuesday in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be noon ? 2 p. m. Saturday at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church. Joseph C. Weber was born August 12, 1917 in New England, ND the second of seven children of Nick and Grace (McCusker) Weber. He married Blanche Bach of Regent on October 31, 1941. Joe served in the Army from 1942 ? 1945. He was a member of the 2nd Engineer Special Brigade in WWII, an Amphibian unit of the Corp of Army Engineers. The services were devoted to the Pacific Theater of Operations. At no time after entering combat were they ever pulled out for rest. The commanding general declared the Brigade had more combat ops than any other unit in the theater. Joe was a service station owner in Denver from 1960 ? 1980. He and Blanche retired in 1982 and returned to live in New England. Joe is survived by: his wife, Blanche Weber, Mott, ND; two sons, Jerry Weber and Bob Weber, both Denver, CO; one daughter, Sherrie Stumbo, Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with two on the way; one brother, Jack Weber, Chicago, IL and one sister, Mary Lou Rustan, Bringham City, UT. He was preceded in death by: his parents, one brother, and three sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mott Good Samaritan Center, 401 Millionaire Ave. , Mott, ND 58646 or Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, 1043 McKenzie St. , New England, ND 58647.
