Parastas for Josephine “Jo” Demianew, 92, of Dickinson, will be held at 11:00 a. m. , Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield, with Father Taras Miles celebrating. Burial will follow in St. John Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation for Josephine will be 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Tuesday, April 22nd at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Josephine passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson. Josephine “Jo” Demianow was born October 6, 1921, the daughter of Mike and Anna (Hlebechuk) Demianow in Gorham, ND. She attended Whitetail School in Billings County from 1927 to 1936 and remained in the Belfield area during the 1940’s. On July 8, 1952, Josephine married Matt Demianew in Belfield, ND. Together the couple made their home in rural Stark County. In 1974, the couple returned to the Belfield area. After Matt’s death, Josephine continued to live in Belfield. In July of 2010, Josephine moved to Dickinson where she made St. Luke’s her home. Josephine lived a simple life and enjoyed giving to others. She was often found cooking and baking for her family, friends and neighbors. Josephine was a member of St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Josephine is survived by her niece, Irene (Jerome) Askelson of Fargo, ND; nephew, Steve Baransky of Apache Junction, AZ; great-niece, Mary Askelson of Portland, OR; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Anna Demianow; her husband, Matt Demianew; one sister, Olga Baransky; one infant brother; and two infant sisters. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke’s Home for their excellent care of Josephine. Also, a heartfelt thank you to John Molm for his weekly visits with Josephine. She truly enjoyed them.
