Josephine Hegge, 98, New England, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral services will be 10 a. m. , Monday, January 9, 2006 at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England, with Chaplain James Oakland officiating. Interment will be in Rainy Butte Lutheran Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be 1 p. m. to 8 p. m. , Sunday, January 8, 2006 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. Visitation will continue Monday at the church one hour prior to the service. Josephine Margaret Christ was born January 12, 1907 at Wimbledon, ND, the daughter of John and Anna (Stabenau) Christ. She was raised in the Wimbledon area and received her education at Uxbridge Consolidated School. She went to Valley City Normal School where she received her teaching certificate and taught for four years. She married Art Hegge on December 19, 1929 at Moorhead, MN. They farmed in Kennedy Township, Hettinger County, moving into New England in 1947. She was a member of Rainy Butte Lutheran Church then became a member of Our Redeemer?s Lutheran after the closure of Rainy Butte Lutheran Church. She was a charter member of the Hettinger County Pioneer?s Homemaker?s Club, which was the first in the county. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens, American Auxiliary, and Bible Study Group. Josephine and Arthur wintered in Mesa, AZ for many years. Arthur died January 8, 1986. She loved fishing, bingo, playing cards and traveling. Her family was a very important part of her life. She lived in her own home until her death. She is survived by: one daughter, Donna (Donald) Olson, New England; three grandchildren, Bruce Olson, New England, Brad (Anne) Olson, New England, and Barbara Jo (Bill) Truchan, Dickinson; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer Olson, Warren, MN, Michael Olson, New England, and Jessica Olson, Minot, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Arthur; her parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
