A funeral Mass for Josephine Heidt, 96, of New England, will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New England with Father Gary Benz and Father Charlie Heidt con-celebrating. Burial will take place in St. Helen’s Cemetery South of New England
Visitation for Josie will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 9, 2019 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND, with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p.m. with Deacon Roger Heidt officiating.
Josie passed away on September 4, 2019 at her home in New England.
Josephine (Josie) was born December 19, 1922 in Shefield, the daughter of Edward and Rose (Geiger) Obritschkewitsch. Growing up, she attended Havelock and New England Public School, graduating in 1941. Josephine married Kasper Heidt on June 20, 1943 in Camp Adair, Oregon. They were blessed with a large family, six daughters, Bernardine, Patricia, Lucille, Rose, Vivian, Lorraine and six sons, Claude, Cornelius, Marvin, Albinus, Eugene and Gerard. Josie was a devoted mother and farmwife, making her home in New England for most of her life. She loved gardening, crocheting, quilting, reading, and baking delicious breads and caramel rolls. She was a member of the St. Mary’s New England Altar Guild. Josephine will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Josie is survived by her sons, CJ (Carol), Al (Cindy), Gene (Cindy); daughters, Bernie (Tom) Gorek, Pat Heidt, Luckie (Kip) Greig, Rose (Vernon) Gustin, Vivian (Dave) Hernandez, Lorraine (Eric) Richard; 28 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Rose; husband, Kasper “Kap”; sons, Claude, Gerard and infant Marvin; sisters, Bridget Schulz and Georgia Heidt; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to CHI Health at Home (Hospice) 986 2nd Ave. West, Dickinson 58601.
