Joy Marie Duffield was born on October 10, 1951, the daughter of Swede and Biddy Graham in Baker, MT. She attended grade school in Marmarth and high school in Baker. During her teenage years, Joy worked at Mert?s Cafe in Marmarth. Joy married Douglas Anthony Duffield on June 25, 1969 and to this union two beautiful children were born, Teena Faye and Bradley Allen. Joy and Doug lived in Marmarth and eventually moved to Gillette, WY where Doug owned his own welding and pipeline construction business. Joy kept busy with her children and worked various jobs outside of the home. In 1978, Joy, Doug and the children returned to Marmarth where they purchased the ?Ponderosa? southwest of town. In the early 1980?s, they built ?Duffy?s Corner? and caf? in Marmarth. Christmas time and family trips were always special for Joy. She enjoyed decorating her yard for every season. Excessive wattage use was a trait that ran deep in her family which could be seen from miles away! Joy loved to travel and shop with her sister Denise. The ?yellow pickup? traveled the tri-state area and almost always required the use of tie-downs on the way home. On most trips they frequented Prairie Knights or Deadwood just to earn a little extra shopping cash. Her winning spirit carried beyond the casino walls. Even back home she taught her grandkids the true meaning of ?Oh Hell? as she fiercely, yet playfully fought them for the win. Joy was and will remain her children?s and grandchildren?s biggest fan!! There was never a moment in any gym, field, or track that her voice was not heard. There is now a deafening silence in this arena we call life. An irreplaceable voice will no longer be heard. She will be missed dearly! Joy passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at her home in Marmarth, ND. Joy is survived by her children, Teena (Tony) Holecek and their children, Daulton and Darian of Westby, MT and Brad (Heidi) Duffield and their children, Justyce, Caleb, Bishop, Bohden and Cansas of Marmarth, ND; two brothers, Clayton (Mary Pat) Graham of Baker, MT and Rock (Loretta) Graham of Marmarth, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.
