Funeral Services for Joyce Praus, 61 of Killdeer, ND will be held at 10:00 a. m. on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Killdeer with Father Jerry Ruelle OSB celebrating. Burial will follow at Killdeer Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Wednesday, February 1, 2006 with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Killdeer. Joyce passed away Sunday, January 29, 2006 after a year long battle with cancer at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Dickinson. Joyce was born March 20, 1944 to John and Caroline (Gietzen) Sebastian at Ma Gietzen?s farm. She grew up and attended the Haymarsh Grade School through the 8th grade and Glen Ullin her Freshman year. She then attended Annunciation Priory in Bismarck where she completed her education as a member of the first graduating class in 1962. Joyce attended college at North Dakota State University in Fargo for two years. She married Robert (Bob) Praus on December 28, 1964 at St. Clement?s Catholic Church in Haymarsh, ND. The couple spent several years in Hebron before moving to Beulah and then Glen Ullin. In 1977 they moved to Jamestown where Joyce worked for Conlin?s Furniture, J. C. Penney and Rene Accounting. In 1983 the family moved to Killdeer where Joyce worked at Dunn County Social Services as an eligibility worker. She retired January 27, 2006 after 22 years of service. Joyce truly loved her grandchildren and did her best to attend every event they were involved in. She also enjoyed hunting, attending showdeos, bowling, sewing, scrap booking and gambling. She was very crafty with unique ideas and stayed well organized. Her favorite thing to organize was family gatherings, which she did as much as possible. During these gatherings, Joyce was as busy pulling pranks as well as entertaining her guests. She taught herself to play the piano as well as other instruments. Survivors include, her husband, Robert, Killdeer; a son, Ryan (Carey) Praus, Killdeer; two daughters, Kristie (Darrin) Nielsen, Beach and Dina (Mark) Benz, Killdeer; grandchildren, Samantha and Meghan Praus, Bobbi Jo, Logan, Talon and Baili Nielsen and Alicia and Evan Benz; three brothers, Myron (Eunice) Sebastian, Towner, ND, Joel (Linda) Sebastian, Billings, MT, Gerald (Debbie) Sebastian, Hebron, ND; two sisters, Eunice (Ernie) Schirado, Glen Ullin and JoAnne (Ervin) Messer, New Salem; two sister-in-laws, Anna Sebastian, Bismarck, ND and Marion Sebastian, Mesa, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Duane and Reuben.
