She married Geno Lupo on July 7, 1953. The couple made their home in Dickinson and it was here where they raised their family. After the children entered school, Karen was employed at Tempo for several years. Karen and Geno were proud to call Dickinson home their entire lives. Karen was an avid reader, loved jigsaw puzzles, and playing Scrabble and Dominoes. She was fond of the time she spent catering with Marlene Schopp. Christmas was an event with Karen as she had her house filled with Christmas trees and presents stacked to the ceiling. The Christmas cookies and sweets were always plentiful and delicious. Karen and Geno enjoyed building bird houses and working in the flower garden in their retired years. Karen also enjoyed playing piano, especially hymns that she knew by heart. Special to Karen and Geno both were attending music and athletic events of their children and grandchildren. Karen is survived by her children, sons, David (Barbara) and Joel (Josann) of Dickinson; daughter, Marla (March) Stevens of Glenburn; 10 grandchildren, Clarke (Lora) Stevens, Mitchell (Natasha) Stevens, Tyler Stevens (Kallie), Kimberly (Derik) Fergeson, Christopher Lupo, Michael Lupo, McCoy Lupo, Allaina Lupo (Aaron), Lucas Lupo, Nicholas Lupo; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, June (Jerome) Beck, Mandan; Jereine (Lee) DeYoung, Lady Lake, FL; Eva Lee Larsen, Sun City, AZ; sister-in-law, Lucille Zalesky; sister and brother-in-law, Eddie and Mary Kostelecky; special cousin, Iola Dubisar; and several nieces and nephews.
