Karen Voigt

Karen Voigt, 62, Dickinson, died Saturday, February 18, 2006, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Funeral services will be 10:30 a. m. Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Steve Tangen and Rev. Pat Higgins officiating. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery, rural Taylor, ND. Visitation will be from 12 p. m. to 9 p. m. Monday, February 20, 2006, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p. m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Karen Madson was born December 6, 1943, in Richardton to Frank and Margaret (Hull) Madson. She attended school in Taylor and graduated from Taylor High School in 1961. She was a 4-H member and belonged to the Luther League. Karen graduated from Dickinson State with a BA degree in English. She married Paul Sticka, and a daughter, Kelsey, was born in 1969. In 1978, she married Harold Voigt. She worked for a number of years for the Dickinson Public School system as a graphic artist. She was very artistic and enjoyed quilting, woodworking, and making crafts. Karen enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports and particularly liked watching the Blue Hawks. She loved music and playing piano. Karen was a very gracious person who loved her family and friends. Karen is survived by her husband, Harold, Dickinson; one son, Robby (LoAyne) Voigt, Mohall; three daughters, Sheila (Joel) Marshall, Hazen, Shannon (Dennis) Sjomeling, Breckenridge, MN, and Kelsey Sticka, Fargo; 10 grandchildren, Cassey, Allison and Aaron Voigt, Christ, Craig and Chad Marshall, Michael, Derek, Sheena and Angelea Marsh; one sister, Marilyn (Ervin) Forster, Richardton; one brother, Lyle (Pat) Madson, Fort Collins, CO and one brother-in-law, Doug Wiley, Spokane, WA. She was preceded in death by: her parents and one sister, Susan Wiley. Memorials are preferred to: Dickinson State University Foundation, 230 8th Avenue West, Dickinson, ND 58601 or St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church music program, 146 6th Avenue West, Dickinson, ND 58601.
