The Mass of Christian Burial for Kaspar ?Kap? N. Krebs, Dickinson, North Dakota will be 10 a. m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Father Dennis Schafer and Father Bruce Krebs, celebrating. Military Honors will be provided by the Anton Ulijohn Post #66 of New England. Internment will be 1 p. m. CT on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota. Visitation will be from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Monday, May 28, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a rosary at 7:00 p. m. Kaspar ?Kap? passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2007, at his home with his family by his side after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Kaspar N. Krebs was born July 4, 1930, on a farm in rural Stark County, North Dakota, to Kasper J. and Mary (Klupp) Krebs. He grew up on the family homestead in Hettinger County. Kap attended three years of grade school in Hettinger Rural School and finished the 8th grade in Lefor in 1944, and later went on to complete his G. E. D. He remained on the family farm until October 19, 1951, when he was called to serve his country. Kap served in the Korean War with the Battery C Company 999 AFA and supported the Battles of Baldy, T-Bone, Pork Chop and the Panmonjon Truce Talks, as Chief of Section of a 155mm Self Propelled Howitzer until his discharge in 1953. On October 11, 1953, Kap married Luella Mae Flohr in Lefor, North Dakota. Kap?s past employment included, driving beer truck for Bob Stranik; Slope Electric Cooperative as a lineman; owned the Empire Bar; Knights of Columbus Insurance Field Agent; Keith Signs as an installer; R & R Hot Oil Service as a hot oiler. Kap was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus; life member of VFW Post #3444 of Dickinson; member of and Past Commander of American Legion Post #66, New England and was a member of the St. Anthony Club. Kap enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, golfing, baseball, puzzles, making tin men, gardening, shooting pool, cards and he especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren at sporting events. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Luella Mae, of Dickinson; four sons, Gerry (Joyce) Krebs, Dickinson, Jim (Sheila) Krebs, Dickinson, Pat (LeEtta) Krebs, Bowman and Dr. Scott (Lisa) Krebs, Rapid City, S. D. ; four daughters, Judy (Kelly) Koppinger, Dickinson, Faye (Pat) Ruggles, Scranton, ND. , Bobbie (Dean) Northrop, Dickinson and Jane (Bruce) Simonson, Dickinson; three brothers, Joe (Elizabeth) Krebs, Mansfield, OH. , Mike (Agnes) Krebs, Mansfield, OH, Philip (Aylin) Krebs, Fairfax, VA. ; two sisters, Sue Goff, Denver, CO. and Elizabeth (George) Vandeberg, Vancouver, WA; 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Kap was preceded in death by both parents; his brother John K. ; two sisters: Marie Trease and Elizabeth Krebs; one infant granddaughter Chelsea Koppinger. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: Heartland Hospice, 30 west 7th street, Dickinson, ND 58601
