Katherine Christiansen

Funeral Mass for Katherine Christiansen, 88, of Dickinson, ND, will be held at 10:00 a. m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at St. John?s Catholic Church in Baker, MT with Father Thomas Tobin celebrating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Marmarth, ND. Rosary will be at 6:30 p. m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, followed by Prayer Services at 7:00 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Katherine passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012, at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Katherine Rosemary Rushford, the daughter of Robley ?Bob? and Theo (Ekholm) Rushford, was born April 21, 1924, in Marmarth. She grew up and attended school in Marmarth. On January 9, 1942, Katherine and Robert ?Bob? Christiansen were united in marriage in Baker. The couple lived in Marmarth where they raised their children. In 1967, the couple moved to Mobridge, SD. Katherine and Bob returned to Marmarth in 1983 and made their home in Katherine?s childhood home. Katherine lived in Baker for a number of years before spending her last years in St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Katherine was a gracious lady and was very kind and considerate to all with whom she came in contact. Family was very important to her and she enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends. She enjoyed knitting, traveling, hunting, camping, and riding horseback. Katherine was a member of the Royal Neighbors, The Order of Eastern Star, Milwaukee Women?s Club, Council on Aging, Marmarth Historical Society, and Marmarth Senior Citizens. Katherine is survived by 1 daughter, Jerilee (Ron) Perrin of Benton City, WA; 2 sons, Carter (Linda) of Miles City, MT, and John of Livingston, MT; 6 grandchildren, Jim Perrin, Kathy Garberg, Gwynne Moore, Scott Christiansen, Kim Sciarrone, and Chad Christiansen; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of another great-great grandchild in November. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Bob and Theo Rushford; and her sister Helen Hughes.
