Liturgy of the Word service for Katherine Jung Costello, 90, of Dickinson, will be 1:00 p. m. , Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel in Dickinson with Deacon Ron Keller officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New England, ND. Visitation for Katherine will be 11:00 a. m. – 1:00 p. m. before the service on Saturday. Katherine Costello passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 in Evergreen, Dickinson, ND. Katherine Jung was born March 15, 1924 in rural New England/Havelock, the daughter of Peter Sr. and Elizabeth (Wogh) Jung. She grew up and attended school in New England. Her family farmed near Havelock, SE of New England. Katherine began working fulltime at the age of 17 and eventually joined her sister, Eva and Ralph (brother-in-law) Feininger in moving to California. In 1951, she became employed with Transpacific Transportation Co. in San Francisco, CA and she remained there until her retirement in 1986. Katherine married William J. Costello on September 8, 1956. They later divorced and William passed away in 1974. Katherine moved back to North Dakota in 1996 to be closer to her family. She entered The Evergreen in 2008. Her family wishes to thank the staff for their wonderful care during her stay with them. Katherine loved music, especially polkas and waltzes and her family remembers baking fruitcakes with her during the holidays in California. Katherine is survived by her brother, Peter Jung of Dickinson; sister, Betty (Robert) Reichert of Benklemen, NE; sister-in-law, Eva Jung of Mandan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and ElizabethJung; brothers, Valentine, Frank, Mike, William, Robert and infant brother Phillip; sisters, Helen, Mary and Eva.
