Katherine passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Katherine ?Kathy? Schlosser was born March 14, 1930, to Peter and Isabella (Steiner) Schlosser. She was raised near the St. Vincent/Crown Butte area with her 10 siblings. She met the love of her life, Joe Kautzman, at a dance at the St. Vincent Hall. They married on September 27, 1949, at St. Vincent Catholic Church. On that day Kathy was asked how many children she wanted, 12 she replied. Thus, this union was blessed with 12 children: Donna (Doug) Schmidt, Glen Ullin, Darlene (Tim) Hill, Bismarck, Doug (Barb) Kautzman, Bismarck, Debby (Ray Butler) Johnson, Grand Forks, Doris (Jim) Smith, Bismarck, Donavon (Marlene) Kautzman, New Salem, David (Tamara) Kautman, New Salem, Dale (Lisa) Kautzman, Shakopee, MN, Diana (Dion) Bopp, New Salem, Delton Kautzman, New Salem, Daren Kautzman, Fargo, and Dana (Mike) Pazdernik, New Salem. Katherine was an amazing wife and mother. She did this while always being dressed in the proper attire – beautiful hair, a dress and heels. She was an example of true love and deep faith. Her favorite place was her kitchen, where she prepared wonderful meals for her family. Her 28 grandchildren often spoke of her homemade buns and grandma?s chicken soup. She worked side by side with her husband Joe as his bookkeeper until they retired in 2007. They could be seen going for coffee while sitting side by side in the pickup. Kathy and Joe spent many evenings playing cards with their special friends, Kenny and Katie Kuntz and Clara (Joe) Schaner. Katherine was an active volunteer at Elm Crest Manor. She had seven beautiful great-granddaughters who always put a smile on her face and made her heart swell with joy. Katherine was greeted in heaven by a daughter, Josephine, her parents, brothers Jack, Tony and Peter Schlosser and one sister, Perpetea (Joe) Bauer.
