Funeral service for Kathleen (Katie) Ann Schafer, 55, of Dickinson will be 3:00 p. m. Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 12:00 p. m. to 3:00 p. m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Katie passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008 at her home in Dickinson. Kathleen Schafer was born September 3, 1953 to Charles J. and Fern K. (Schamens) Schafer in Minot, ND. She grew up and attended elementary school in New Rockford, ND and then moved with the family to Rolla, ND where she graduated from Rolla High School. She then attended Jamestown College as well as worked as a nurse?s aide at the Jamestown State Hospital. Caring for her family occupied most of Katie?s time through the years. She later made her home in Dickinson to be closer to her son Ben, and during this time she went back to school and attended classes at Dickinson State University. Kate was always a kind and caring person. She loved having her pets around. She was a people person that enjoyed being with her family and friends. Kate cherished all her family and always looked forward to the next time they would be together. Kathleen is survived by her sons, Christopher Christensen, Las Vegas, NV; Benjamin Christensen, Dickinson, ND; mother, Fern Schafer, Lake Park, MN; brothers, Russ (LouAnn), Auburn, WA, John (Kim), Audubon, MN; brother-in-law; Rod Miller, Center, ND; nieces and nephews; Margaret (Brian) Luff , Wichita, KS, Susan Mundy, Wichita, KS, Mike (Christa) Mundy, Dickinson, ND, Brian Schafer, Auburn, WA, Emmie (Andrew) Bauer Seattle, WA; Stephanie Schafer,Typhanie Schafer and Brittanie Schafer, Audubon, MN; and great nieces, Abigail Mundy, Makena Mundy. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles J. Schafer; sister, Vicia Schafer-Miller; paternal grandparents, Fred and Edith Schafer; maternal grandparents, Russell and Marcella Schamens.
