Mass of Christian burial for Kathryn Mary Baar, 84 of Dickinson is 10:00 a. m. , Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson, with Father Jim Braaten celebrating. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick?s Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 12, 2005 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, from 8:00 a. m. until 9:30 a. m. at the chapel. Kathryn passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. Kathryn was born on June 25, 1921, in Stark County, ND, the daughter of Katie (Tormaschy) and Marcus Wax. She grew up and attended Plum Creek country school. As a young woman, she worked in Minneapolis and California during WW II as a riveter, and then returned to North Dakota. Kathryn was married to Frank Baar in Columbia, SC on July 5, 1944. They moved northwest of Lefor where they farmed and raised their family. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, crocheting, and especially dancing with her husband. Kathryn was an active volunteer member of R. S. V. P. , a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the Gladstone Senior Citizens and various Homemaker clubs. In addition, she held offices for the Christian Mothers of Lefor as well as a member of the St. Joseph Verein. Kathryn retired and moved into Dickinson in 1979. Survivors include: two sons: Curtis Baar, Osecola, MO; Gery Baar, Sioux Falls, SD; three daughters: Beverley Geier, Dickinson, ND; Dorita Jo (Darrell) Kuhn, Lefor, ND; Fennella Bergeson, Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers: Marcus (Ruth) Wax, Dickinson, ND; Greg (Lois) Wax, Minneapolis, MN; four sisters: Barbara Riebel, Mary Weirick, Florence Buchtel, all of St. Paul, MN; Eleanor (Joe) Keck, Dickinson, ND, 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 2, 2000, her parents, a son, Alvin, a son-in-law, Jack Geier, an infant daughter, Edith, brothers Mike, Nick, and Pete Wax, and a sister, Helen Schroeder
