Funeral Mass for Kathryn Hecker 88, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson, ND.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3, 2011, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Visitation will continue from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with a Rosary and Vigil Service taking place at 7:00 p.m.
Kathryn passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Medcenter One Health Center in Bismarck, ND.
Kathryn Hecker was born on May 15, 1922 to Leonard and Rosa (Barth) Lantz at Mott, ND. She grew up on a farm north of Mott. On September 22, 1947, Kathryn married Andrew C. Hecker and nine children were born to this union. They farmed and ranched in rural Belfield until retiring and moving to Dickinson in 1982. Andrew passed away on December 9, 1999. Katie enjoyed dancing, playing cards, going for lunch with her friends, cooking, and baking for her family. She also enjoyed watching “Big Joes” Polka Show on TV. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest joy.
Katie is survived by eight children: Maynard A. Hecker, Watford City; Wayne A. (Beverly) Hecker, Dickinson; Doug G. Hecker (friend-Gloria), Belfield; Clayton H. (Janet) Hecker, Dickinson; Allen T. (Kathy) Hecker, Dickinson; Arvid C. (Mary) Hecker, Belfield; Delry L. Hecker, Dickinson; and Janel K. (Dave) Stephan, West Fargo, ND; 17 grandchildren: Michelle Simenson, Sarah Wylie, Clint Hecker, Judy (Dan) Newton, Jolene (Brian) Koskovich, Colin Hecker, Cindi Hecker, Karen (Nathan) Lynch, Tina (Brent) Hanson, Garret Hecker, Cole Hecker, Derrick (Amanda) Hecker, Nathan Hecker, Matthew Hecker, David Stephan, Andy Stephan and Damian Stephan; 23 great-grandchildren: Cody Evans, Corey Evans, Brandon Elton, Ethan Wylie, Alyssa Wylie, Brehm Wylie, Madelynn Wylie, Taylor Zinne, Danny Newton, Ali Newton, Timmy Newton, Jacob Koskovich, Caitlyn Koskovich, Lance Koskovich, Natasha Hecker, Thomas Hecker, Gabriella Hecker, D’Artagman Hecker, Marilyn Blaha, Victoria Blaha, Ryder Hecker, Hunter Hecker, Hallie Hecker; and one sister, Christina Hazelton.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; her infant son Claude; one infant grandson, Randall Hecker; her parents; brothers: Frank Lantz, Mike Lantz, Casper Lantz, Vincent Lantz, Julius Lantz, John Lantz, Bennie Lantz; and sisters: Veronica Hecker, Mary Lantz and Betty Hawn.
