Kathryn Trotter

Funeral Services for Kathryn Trotter, 78, of Grassy Butte will be 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at the Grassy Butte Community Hall with Pastor Jay Reinke officiating. Burial will follow at the Grassy Butte Cemetery. Visitation for Kathryn will take place from 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Monday, December 29, 2008, at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer, ND with a prayer service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Kathryn passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008, at McKenzie County Hospital in Watford City. Kathryn Helen Trotter was born February 25, 1930, in Killdeer, ND, to Joseph and Lena (Tabor) Kowis. She was fourth of eleven siblings and grew up on the family farm outside of Grassy Butte, ND. Kathryn attended country school in the area. After school, she worked on the family farm until she was married. On October 22, 1949, Kathryn and Lee Trotter were united in marriage in Wibaux, MT. Together they made their home on a ranch west of Grassy Butte along the Little Missouri River. It is here that they raised their family of six and have made their lifelong home. Kathryn spent many hours riding the range on her horse and doing chores, which she enjoyed. She liked to hunt and fish. Kathryn enjoyed bowling, gardening and especially loved her flowers. She liked to watch game shows and Professional Bull Riding on TV. She also enjoyed Bingo and making a trip to New Town to gamble. Kathryn was an exceptional baker and was especially known for her pastries and sweets. She is survived by her sons; Don (Vickie) and Joe (Carolyn) Trotter, both of Grassy Butte, ND; daughters; Sharon Unruh, Zap, ND, Tami (Dale) Malo, Beulah, ND, Vicky (Bruce) Brandvik and Diane (Darryl) Berg both of Killdeer, ND; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers; Stanley Kowis, Seattle, WA, Kenny (Jeanne) Kowis, Milwaukee, WI, Wally (Mary) Kowis and Bobby (Ilene) Kowis both of Killdeer, ND; sisters; Caroline Dardis, Killdeer, ND, MaryEllen Sabrosky, Manning, ND, Delores (Jim) Bice, Billings, MT, Donna (Neil) Grevious, Bozeman, MT. Kathryn is preceded in death by; both parents; husband, Lee; son-in-law, Floyd Unruh; grandson; Mike Malo; sisters; Annabellen Kukla and Marjorie Hansen.
