Kathy J. (Renner) Bachler, 59, of Almont ND, with her loving and devoted husband by her side, lost her battle with cancer at CHI St. Alexius Hospital February 27, 2017.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Pius V Catholic Church, New Salem with Father John Guthrie and Monsignor Chad Gion officiating. The interment at the Almont cemetery will follow a luncheon in the St. Pius V parish hall.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 3rd, followed by a rosary and vigil service starting at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 3, at St. Pius V Catholic Church. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Kathy was born on May 11, 1957, at Mandan Hospital to Lawrence and Goldie Renner of Almont, ND where she was raised. Kathy attended school in Almont where she participated in many extracurricular activities including attending Girls State and cheerleading, as she took pride in being an “Almont Eagle”. In her senior year of high school, Kathy participated in the Miss Morton County Pageant and was presented with the “Miss Congeniality Award”. Kathy dated, and on February 28, 1976, married her best friend, Dean Bachler of Almont. She worked for a sales company selling safes and then for a short period was a Teacher’s Aide at Almont Public School. Beginning her life as a mother of 5 children and a farmer/ranchers wife, she actively directed music and youth programs at St. Mary’s Queen of Peace where she was also a member of the Christian Mother’s organization. When her children grew older she was able to take on work again gaining employment at the New Salem Journal. Years later, Kathy became the manager at Rud Oil in Almont where she enjoyed working until the time of her Illness.

Kathy enjoyed playing cards with her husband Dean and any friends, family, or neighbors that would be willing. Kathy had a deep passion for music where she spent endless hours transposing songs to perform with her guitar and her beautiful voice. Anyone that knew Kathy knew that she loved to cook. If she couldn’t comfort someone with words, she would most certainly do it with her home cooking. Kathy also enjoyed nothing more than to appease her grandchildren. She would spend countless hours carousing sales catalogs or magazines to find toys and nic nacs that only a Grandma could find for her Grandkids. Kathy had a smile and a presence about her that could light up the room, and had a very clever way of saying things that will be deeply missed. She truly believed that God had a plan in life for everyone, and although she was stricken with an awful disease towards the end of her time here on Earth, still believed that “everything happens for a reason”.

Kathy is Survived by her husband Dean Bachler, her three sons, Joey (Lisa) Bachler, Mark Bachler and Kari Heringer, Nick (Amy) Bachler; her daughter, Rebecca (Dustin) Holtan; two sisters, Mary Ann (Tharen) Kilen, Julie (Brad) Timpe; brother, Dan (Donna) Renner; and grandkids, Casandra, Elizabeth, Austin, Aidan, Abby, Adalyn, Colbi, Kinli, and Case.
