Funeral services for Kay Pladson, 51, of Dickinson, ND will be 2:00 p. m. Monday, December 3, 2007 at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Dickinson, with Pastor Noel T. Vold officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph?s Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation for Kay will be from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home is Dickinson with a Prayer Service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Kay passed away Friday, November 30, 2007 at her home in Dickinson. Kay Leanne Pladson was born November 18, 1956 to LeRoy and Mary Jane (Sanda) Thingelstad in Northwood, ND. She grew up in Northwood and attended local grade school, graduating from Northwood High School in 1975. After graduation Kay attended Joseph?s School of Hair Design in Grand Forks. She later worked at ?The Gleaner newspaper? in Northwood. It was during this time that Kay met Robert Pladson and the two where married on June 23, 1978 in Northwood. The couple lived in Larimore, ND a year before moving to Dickinson, ND in 1980. It was here where they made their home for the next 27 years as they raised their five children, Michele, Penny, Sam, Casey, and Kelsey. Kay enjoyed playing sports, especially softball, volleyball and Bowling. She was very fond of the outdoors as well as spending time in her garden and yard. Kay had a knack for woodworking that she inherited from her father. This led her to build several decks along with other remodels and decorative projects. Music played a huge role in Kay?s life and family. Kay deeply loved her children and grandchildren and supported them through all of their activities. At times she was a taxi and pit crew all in one as she hauled her boys across the country to motocross events. Kay will be remembered as a very witty, and loving person that will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Bob; two sons, Sam and Casey Pladson; three daughters, Michele Pladson; Penny (Jeremiah) Young; and Kelsey Pladson all of Dickinson; two grandchildren, Logan Fritz and Nia Mayer; three sisters, Pat Anderson of St. Thomas, ND; Pam Jacobson of Northwood, ND; Kathy (Dave) Muellner of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kay is preceded by both of her parents, and a brother, Terry Thingelstad.
