Kelly James Gillan, 80, of Baker, Montana passed away peacefully on July 6, 2022 surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Kelly was born on July 4, 1942 in Washington DC, son of James Joseph Gillan and Lolita (Jackson) Gillan. He grew up in Baker, Montana. He joined the Army in 1962. After being honorably discharged, he had a long time career doing transportation for movies in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to owning Jackson Village in Baker, he previously owned a ranch in Broadus. He enjoyed wintering in Baja California. Kelly will be dearly missed and remembered through all the stories people will continue to tell of his antics and adventures.
He is survived by his daughter, Megan Ayars, by his brother, Garth (Marlene) Gillan, nieces and nephews, Johanna, Rebecca, Daniel, Susannah, Jonathan and Miriam Gillan, along with many beloved cousins and an abundance of friends. Kelly requested a Celebration of Life be held in his honor.
Kelly was predeceased by his parents.
We request all of Kelly’s loved ones to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at the Tavern in Baker, MT on Friday, August 5th from 5:30-8:00pm. A Zoom link for the ceremony will also be available by emailing rebecca.m.gillan@gmail.com. An additional Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the San Francisco Bay Area at a later date.
