Kenneth Berger

Funeral Mass for Kenneth J. Berger, 71 of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Jeff Zwack, celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick?s Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Kenneth went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2006, surrounded by his family at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 4, 1935 in rural Dunn County, the son of John C. and Beatrice (Bernhardt) Berger. He grew up and attended country school in Dunn County. Kenneth began working for a farm and ranch operation in the Dickinson area. On July 10, 1957 Kenneth married Sally Metz in Dickinson. In 1969 he began his welding career which continued until 1988. Kenneth returned to school and received his GED and a two-year college degree. Kenneth semi-retired and took on various driving jobs. He loved tinkering and could fix about anything. He enjoyed playing cards, getting together with friends and working in his yard and shop. Kenneth was a loving husband and enjoyed time spent with family. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, St. Anthony?s Club and was a Golden Eagle. Survivors include his devoted wife of 49 ? years, Sally, Dickinson, ND; two sons: Kevin A. Berger and Kelly J. (Lynelle) Berger all of Dickinson, ND; four daughters: Karen (Doug) Lange, Dickinson, ND, Karla (Laverne) Keegan, Belle Fourche, SD, Kathy A. (Randy) Frenzel, Zap, ND and Kayla (Mike) Reiss, Dickinson, ND; four brothers: Edward (Gladys) Berger, Beach, ND, Larry (Carol) Berger, Dickinson, ND, Richard (Joyce) Berger, Dickinson, ND, Vic (Bette Ann) Berger, Oregon; one sister, Lorraine (Lee) Swanson, Detroit Lakes, MN and eleven grandchildren: Kevin, Jr. and Kyle Berger; Brandon, Lindsay and Macensie Lange; Megen and Wyatt Keegan; Jordan Halter; Dylan Berger; and Dalton and Kiarra Reiss. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Beatrice Berger; a son, Keith J. Berger; two brothers: Albert Berger and an infant brother, John, Jr. ; a sister, Beatrice Heck; a nephew, Cary Berger; and his mother and father-in-law: Tony and Sally Metz. A memorial has been established in Kenneth’s name.
