Kenneth Dale Brockmeyer was born on May 31, 1924, at Thelen, ND a son of August Gerhardt and Helen Frieda (Geyer) Brockmeyer. He grew up on the family farm and attended Beach Schools where he graduated from high school. During his grade school years, Kenneth rode his bicycle from the farm to Beach so he could attend Confirmation Classes at church. Following graduation, Kenneth served in the United States Army from March 1946 until his Honorable Discharge on March 20, 1947. He returned to Beach where he went to work at the Occident Elevator. While attending a dance at Wibaux he met a young lady who caught his attention. After a courtship, Kenneth married his best friend, Betty Ruth Witte on June 16, 1951 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Beach. Kenneth and Betty were blessed with three children, Dennis, Karen and Sandy. Following their marriage, Kenneth and Betty lived northeast of Wibaux where they farmed and ranched in Wibaux and Golden Valley Counties. Kenneth also worked for the Wibaux County Road Department and also helped with the building of the Golden Valley County Hospital in Beach. During the school year he drove school bus. He kept busy, but when he found some spare time he enjoyed woodworking and refurbishing mechanical items. Kenneth had the ability to fix anything except TV?s. Kenneth would jokingly say he left that to his brother, Vernon! He was proud to have built their first home. During the past several years he and Betty worked with a group of volunteers to make cardboard punch boards for use in making brail pages for Bibles for the blind. In 1980, Kenneth and Betty moved into Beach with Kenneth commuting to the farm and ranch. In the late 1990?s they started to become ?snow birds? traveling to Arizona for the winter months. Eventually in 2005 they made their home in Phoenix. Kenneth was a life long member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Beach. He was active in the Lutheran Laymen?s League, Sunday Bible Studies, Church Council and anywhere there was a need for an extra hand. Over the years Kenneth served on many local boards. Kenneth loved the Lord, but especially he loved his family. He was an honest Christian man with strong family values. Kenneth would freely do anything for anyone. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty of Phoenix, AZ; his children, Dennis (fianc? Patti Kelley) Brockmeyer of Montrose, CO, Karen (Dale) Davis, of Portland, OR and Sandy (Doug) Kraus, of Phoenix, AZ; ten grandchildren, Jodi (Mike) Gempler, David (Marian) Brockmeyer, Matthew (Keri) Davis, Chris (Shannon) Brockmeyer, Jennifer (Andy) Saultz, Nate Kraus, Noah (LaRee) Davis, Jessica Brockmeyer, Kayla Kraus and Austin Kraus; two great-grandchildren, Brody Davis and Francesca Brockmeyer; two step-great-grandchildren, Brandon Mcneice and Kieran; his brother, Vernon Brockmeyer of Beach, ND; his sister, Wilma Hayden, of Beach, ND; his brother in-law, William O. ?Fiddling Bill?
