Funeral Mass for Kenneth Herold, 56, of Bismarck, ND formerly of Lefor, will be 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at St. Elizabeth?s Catholic Church in Lefor, ND with Father Patrick Moore, O. S. B, celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth?s Cemetery, Lefor, ND. Visitation will begin Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from 10:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m. (CDT) at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, ND and will continue from 2:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. (MDT) at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 6:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. (MDT) with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. (MDT) at St. Elizabeth?s Catholic Church in Lefor, ND. Kenneth passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND. Kenneth was born November 18, 1953 in Dickinson, ND the son of John and Pauline (Kaufman) Herold. He grew up on the family farm near Lefor and graduated from Lefor High School in 1971. He enlisted in the United States Army and was granted a hardship discharge to return to North Dakota and help his father on the farm. On September 29, 1973, he married Janet Grundhauser in New England, ND. To this union, two children were born: Mark Elliott and Amy Jo. He lived in the New England area until 1986 when the family moved to Bismarck, ND. Kenneth became active in the community attending sporting, music and scouting events with his children. He also attended events for his nieces and nephews. Kenneth was an active member at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he was considered the ?unofficial greeter?. Kenneth was an avid card player and enjoyed playing UNO with his grandsons. He also enjoyed bowling and more recently fishing with his friend and care taker, Bryce. Family was very important to Kenneth and he enjoyed spending time with them as often as possible. He was very proud of his two children and adored his three grandsons and was excited about his soon to arrive granddaughter. Kenneth cherished time with his parents as well as his siblings. Kenneth is survived by his parents, John and Pauline, Lefor; a son Mark (Sarah) Herold of Bismarck; a daughter Amy (Shane) Yates of Fargo; brothers, Keith (Debbie) Herold of Lefor, Kelly (Karen Johnson) Herold of Winona, MN and John-Mark (Lori) Herold of Bismarck; three sisters, Betty Lou (Gary) Schell of Stanley, Belinda (Emmett) Lynch of Lester Prairie, MN, and Bonnie (Keith) Benz of Bismarck and three grandchildren, Alex and William Herold and Brayden Yates; and the mother of his children, Janet James, Allen, TX
