At an early age, he moved with his family to Forbes, ND. He attended school and graduated from Forbes High School. Kent enlisted into the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War, specializing in radio transmissions. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Forbes and worked several jobs before moving to Ellendale to continue his education. Kent met and married Margaret Guedesse on December 26, 1969 in Ellendale. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Michele. Kent graduated with a degree in teaching and took his first position in Tappen, ND. He later moved to New Leipzig where he served as principal and then as a superintendent in Courtenay. The family moved to Goodrich for several years before returning to Ellendale where Kent worked as an assistant manager for Dickey Rural Telephone. He then went back to his superintendent career in Bowdon and Milton, ND, followed by a move to Lambert and Richey, MT, then back to ND to Carson and Belfield. He enjoyed coaching, basketball and baseball. Kent found his new life dream when he purchased a ranch south of Belfield and started his horse ranch. He continued to serve as superintendent for Underwood before going to work for the highway department based out of Belfield. He was also a driver for Power Fuels before he retired to focus on his ranch and begin raising mules. Kent enjoyed plowing snow in the winter and spending time with his co-workers. He simply adored his two grandsons and was very fond of his dogs who brought him a lot of comfort. Kent was proud of his corvette and took it to many local car shows. He loved fishing and hunting, gun reloading, shopping on line and keeping his UPS man busy. Kent will be missed.
