Kevin passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Richardton Health Care Center.

Kevin Duane Myran was born in Richardton, North Dakota on October 11, 1961, the son of Norman and Evelyn (Kruger) Myran. Sadly, his mother passed away when he was only nine months old, due to kidney failure. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Taylor with his two brothers and one sister. His dad remarried in 1971, and Kevin gained a step-mom, three more brothers, and a sister.

Kevin graduated from the Taylor School in 1980. After graduating, he went to work for Phillip Wagner from South Heart, doing custom combining. In between combining for Phillip and also for Ray Johnson out of Canada, he worked for Fisher Sand and Gravel, running the dump truck.

In 1984, Kevin was in a terrible accident in Nebraska while pulling a combine. He was hit head on by a semi and had to be removed by the “Jaws of Life”. Due to his accident, he had his first kidney transplant on November 30, 1984 in Omaha, Nebraska.

After recovering from his accident, Kevin helped his dad on the farm and was basically his right hand man. Unfortunately, his dad passed away in 1998 from a heart attack.

In 2003, Kevin purchased a house and moved to Taylor. He made many good friends living in town.

In 2018, Kevin had his second kidney transplant, due to the first one failing. He received his kidney from an anonymous donor. He did really well up until June/July of 2024, when he started having back pain and found out that he was in acute liver failure. He also had cancer of the liver, pancreas, and lungs. Kevin was one that never complained, even when he was in pain or didn’t feel well.

Everybody loved Kevin. He was such a good friend and likeable guy. He enjoyed visiting with people and had a great memory for family history and the town history of Taylor. He enjoyed shaking dice down at the Zillich station for a pop and candy bar, or stopping at the Sit-N-Bull for a Diet Mountain Dew and to visit with friends. He especially liked watching the NASCAR races and all-star wrestling.

Kevin was a member of the Taylor Lions Club, Taylor Fire Department, Taylor Lutheran Church Board, and after his dad passed, he took on his role of the Ridgeway Cemetery sexton.

Kevin appreciated his good friends and neighbors who helped him when in need, especially Russ and Jerilyn Myran, who were there for him when he needed to go to the ER or hospital. They even sent delicious meals across the street to him, which he really appreciated. Kevin also had a great friend, Inky Paulson, who lived next door to him. They became great friends and would help each other out. Inky’s daughters would bring Inky to the hospital to see Kevin, and his eyes would light up when he saw him.

Kevin and his family would like to thank all the staff at the Sanford Hospital in Bismarck and also the staff at the Richardton Health Center for the great care they provided him.

Kevin appreciated all the friendships he developed in the town of Taylor and the people there loved seeing him smile and wave. He will truly be missed by all.

Kevin is survived by his siblings, Kenny (Candy) Myran, Keith (Carolyn) Myran, Kathy (Kevin) Krank, Greg (Mel Faulhaber) Myran, Owen (Vicki) Myran, Sue Lynn (Jeremy) Lysne, and Rory (Bethany) Myran; nieces and nephews, Britni Myran (Rusty Sailor), Brandon (Marilyn) Myran, Jennifer Mauck, Kasey Krank, Talyn Myran, Leighton Myran, and Ashlyn Myran; great-nephew and great-niece, Jonah Sailor, Sarah Sailor, Landon Schmucker, and Jazlyn Mauck; step-mom, Arlene (Feller) Myran; and many good friends and neighbors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Evelyn Myran.
