La Vonne Wiseman

Funeral Services for La Vonne Wiseman, 53, of Baker will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at American Lutheran Church of Baker with Pastor Scott Kiehn officiating. Burial will follow at Bonnievale Cemetery.

Visitation for La Vonne will be Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, March 19, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home.

La Vonne passed away in Billings, MT on March 14, 2021.

La Vonne Marie was born to Byron and Darlene (Jesok) Wolenetz on September 28, 1967 in Baker, MT. She grew up in Baker and was a proud Class of 85 graduate of Baker High School. Being a farmer at heart, La Vonne loved her time in the summers working on the family farm. After graduation she attended Montana State University where she studied business and finance. La Vonne married Shawn Wiseman on June 27, 1987 at American Lutheran Church in Baker. Following their marriage they made their home in Wolf Point, MT. Here she worked at Citizens First National Bank until they moved to Twin Falls, ID in 1991. They lived in Twin Falls for eight years and began their family with the birth of their children, Preston and Jerilyn. In 1999, the family moved to Nampa, ID and resided there until 2013, at which time they returned home to Baker, MT. Baker has been their home ever since.

La Vonne returned to work at the farm and enjoyed sharing that love of farming with her family. She truly enjoyed being behind the wheel of a tractor and could drive semi-trucks with the best of them. La Vonne was so happy when she would see the wheat fields she seeded grow through to harvest. She grew the most beautiful rose gardens at their home in Nampa. La Vonne was also employed by Badlands Electric and truly enjoyed the hard-working, family environment Badlands provided. She also served as the financial secretary at American Lutheran Church.

La Vonne enjoyed many activities with family, as her family was her greatest joy and accomplishment. Nothing meant more to her than being a loving Wife, Mom and Grandma. La Vonne’s face beamed with happiness when she spent time with Preston, Kelly, June, Rhett and Jerilyn.

La Vonne was naturally gifted in music, playing the clarinet and piano in high school. Later in life she learned to play fiddle along with her son and daughter. Being their biggest fans, no distance was too far for La Vonne and Shawn to travel to hear their favorite band, Jerilyn and the guys from Breaking Eight.

Being very artistic, she never missed a chance to do crafts with those she cared about. Skiing was an activity she loved and she spent countless winter days on the Idaho slopes with her family. La Vonne had a true passion for horses (especially Red), which led her to compete in team roping and barrel racing along with her husband and children. Anytime La Vonne took a moment to rest, you could find her favorite puppy of all time, Patches, snuggled next to her.

La Vonne always looked forward to the fun and festivities with the ladies in her Book Club. In her community, La Vonne was an example of great faith and spirituality. She loved her quiet time with the Bible and sharing her faith as a youth leader while living in Idaho. If there was ever anyone who truly demonstrated her faith by her actions, it was La Vonne, so much so that her sister-in-law Rita lovingly referred to her as Saint La Vonne.

La Vonne leaves behind so many that loved her and will miss her beyond measure. Survivors include her loving husband of 33 years, Shawn Wiseman; son, Preston (Kelly Hatch) Wiseman of Baker; daughter, Jerilyn Wiseman of Baker; grandchildren, June and Rhett Wiseman; father, Byron (Galina) Wolenetz of Baker; sister, Lynette Wolenetz of Baker; aunt, Ardelle (Ardi) Forrester of South Dakota, Janice Wolenetz of Baker; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marjorie Griebel of Plevna and Larry Dean of Ekalaka, Milton (Jean) Wiseman of Utah, Rita (Tony) Breitbach of Baker, Sandy (Paul) Myhre of Texas, Dave (Sonja) Wiseman of Baker, Shannon (Jana) Maurice of California, Lorrie (Mark) Wiseman-Holmes of Mississippi; mother-in-law, Carol Wiseman of Mississippi; forever friend, Brenda Dietz of Baker; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Darlene Wolenetz; mother-in-law, Grace Maurice; father-in-law, Leon Wiseman; father-in-law, Gerald Maurice; grandparents, Floyd (Sadie) Wolenetz, Pete (Irma) Jesok; sisters-in-law, Marcie Wiseman-Jardee, Terry Wiseman; brother-in-law Jerry Wiseman; uncle, Melvin Wolenetz; special son, Brian Astle of Kuna, ID.
