A funeral Mass for LaDonna Klatt, 76, of Killdeer, will be 10:00 a. m. , Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Killdeer with Father Darnis Selvanayakam celebrating. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation for LaDonna will be 4:00 p. m. – 8:00 p. m. , Thursday, February 5, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Killdeer with a rosary and vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. LaDonna passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015, with her family at her side, at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck. LaDonna Klatt and her twin brother Donald were born February 26, 1938 in Dickinson. She was the daughter of Emil and Faith (Blackburn) Hawkinson, a sibling to twelve brothers and sisters, one of three sets of twins. Growing up she attended country school in the #4 School District near Benson. LaDonna attended 2nd through 8th grade in a railroad box car west of the family homestead. She attended 9th grade through 12th grade and graduated from Killdeer High School in 1956. LaDonna married Clarence Klatt on October 31, 1956 in Killdeer. They were blessed with four children, Karen, Darvey, Dylane, and Delvin. Together they raised their family five miles north of Killdeer on the family homestead. Over the years, she was active in the community. She was a State Life member of Unit 46 in North Dakota and 45 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed cooking for the American Legion for over 19 years alongside close friend, Pauline Appledoorn. She volunteered much of her time at the Hill Top Home of Comfort, and served as a 4-H leader. She was also a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Altar Society, Homemakers Club and Killdeer Saddle Club. She was a good cook and gardener and will be remembered for her famous Hawkinson potato dumplings, German potato salad, homemade buns, and dill pickles. LaDonna especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, also so enjoyed her dear friends in her card club. LaDonna is survived by her daughter, Karen (Rodney) Breitbach of Bismarck; sons, Darvey of Killdeer, Dylane (Jeanne) of Crookston, MN, Delvin (Nancy) of Dickinson; brothers, Charles (Delores) Hawkinson of Spokane, WA, Clinton (Leona) Hawkinson of Memphis, TN, Duane (Shirley) Hawkinson of Killdeer, Patrick (Carol) Hawkinson of Killdeer, Aaron Hawkinson of Hamilton, MT, Donald (Judy) Hawkinson of Butte, MT, Robert Hawkinson of Sand Springs, OK; sisters, Patricia Steckler of Dunn Center, Mabel (Dennis) Lund of Loveland, CO; nine grandchildren, Brandi, Kimberly, Jonathan, Samantha, Dylan, McKenzie, Tallon, Weston and Ashlyn; two great-grandchildren, Hutchinson and Beckham, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Faith; husband, Clarence; sisters, Roberta and Connie Hawkinson; brother, Thomas Hawkinson.
