Sunday, December 16, 2007 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. Larry was taken from us in a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Larry was born June 29, 1946 in Billings, MT, to Meldon and Evelyn (Miller) Lecoe. He was raised along the railroad track from Mobridge, SD to Miles City, MT. He graduated from Plevna High School in 1964. Before graduating, at the age of 17, Larry began his career on the Milwaukee railroad as a machine operator. After graduation, he continued his dream job of working on the railroad until 1982 when the Milwaukee went bankrupt. He then went to work for Burlington Northern. He continued to work for Burlington Northern and the BNSF, as a foreman and then a track inspector, until his retirement in March, 2005, after 39 years of service. While working with the railroad, on October 23, 1965, Larry married his high school sweetheart, MaryAnn Schell. They resided in Baker, MT until the birth of their first son, Troy. The new family then moved to Marmarth where they made their home. They also added another son, Brad, to their family. As the boys grew Larry and MaryAnn never missed a sporting event whether the boys were playing or coaching. They were awarded the Pirates Pride Award in 1988 as a result. The strong family ties and support continued to show throughout Larry?s life. Although retired, Larry filled his days visiting and caring for his mother, calling and going to see or pick up his grandchildren, and shopping on eBay. Larry was a member of the St. Mary?s Catholic Church and a very active member of the Marmarth Rural Fire District, most recently serving as fire chief. He was a natural entertainer whether it was telling stories or jokes, playing keyboard in the Little Missouri Band, or playing music for his family. He loved to play the keyboard and sing for his grandchildren or anyone who would listen. Larry?s other ?hobbies? were camping with his family, working in his yard, woodworking, helping MaryAnn clean the school, delivering the newspaper to Jim, and delivering mail to the school. The kids would wait for Larry like they wait for Santa at Christmas. He will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched, especially his family members; his wife, MaryAnn Lecoe, Marmarth, ND; two sons, Troy (Tracy) Lecoe and daughter Sage, Flasher; ND and Brad Lecoe, Marmarth, ND and his daughter Mariah and son Dalton both of Rapid City, SD; his mother, Evelyn Lecoe, Marmarth, ND; a sister, Theresa (Bob) Etzkorn, Custer, SD; a brother, Thomas (Roxi) Lecoe, Marmarth, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Meldon Lecoe, and his grandparents Leo and Mae Miller and Spas and Amanda Lecoe. Arrangements are under the direction of the Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
