Laudie L. Dvorak, 76, Dunn Center, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a. m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with the Fr. James Braatencelebrating. Interment will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be noon ? 9 p. m. , Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home with a rosary/ prayer service/sharing of memories at 7 p. m. led by Deacon Gene Morman. Laudie L. Dvorak was born on April 18, 1928, in Dickinson to Pete and Rose (Saetz) Dvorak. He attended school at Iota #2, District 18 until the 8th Grade. He was raised on a farm southeast of Manning. He helped his parents farm and ranch until he was drafted into the Army in January, 1951. He served in the Army for eight months and was honorably discharged in September, 1951. He married Martha Binstock on October 30, 1951 at. Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec. They started farming and ranching in 1952 southeast of Manning. He drilled water wells with his horse ?Triger? in Dunn County. In 1960, he started raising registered Hereford cattle. He built a sales barn at the ranch in 1972 to accommodate annual bull sales. Together, Laudie and Martha ranched for 31 years. They bought a house and moved to Dunn Center in 1983. They soon bought and operated a grocery store and made homemade sausage. They also bought and moved the Dunn Center auditorium. They opened the Dvorak Civic Center and Star Bar. He was a member of the Eagles, St. Anthony Club, and American Hereford Association. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and raising rabbits and poultry. Laudie is survived by: his wife, Martha, Dunn Center; two daughters, Doreen (Albert) Pachl, Manning, N. D. , Arlene (Ray) Brunmeir, Halliday, N. D. ; one son, Bob Dvorak, Manning, N. D. ; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Dvorak, Dickinson. N. D. ; 14 grandchildren, Marcy and Kim Dvorak, Jennifer Biffert, Becky (Chris) Sayler, Laura Pachl, Susan (Justin) Semerad, John and Albert Pachl III, Cassidy, Tracy, Betsy, Jason, Mickayla and Aric Dvorak; six great-grandchildren, Trisha and Chantel Biffert, Samantha, Christopher and Brittany Sayler and Abigail Semerad; five sisters, Mildred Kadrmas, Emma (Stanley) Dvorak, Minnie (Pete) Lefor, Della Hibl and Agnes (Tony) Stockert, all of Dickinson, N. D. ; two brothers, Edward (Margaret) Dvorak and David (Darlene) Dvorak, all of Manning, N. D. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Richard; two brothers, Henry and Albert Dvorak; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Dvorak, and two brothers-in-law, Charlie A. Kadrmas and Charles Hibl.
