Funeral Service for Laurice M. Duppler, 90, of Enderlin, ND formerly of Baker, MT will be held at 1:00 p. m. , MST on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at the Baker Community Church in Baker, MT with Reverend Mark D. Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker. Visitation will be 2:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. MST on Friday, October 8th, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Laurice Mae Buck Duppler, 90, formerly of Baker, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at the Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, ND. Laurice was born on Aug. 2, 1920 on a farm outside Linton, ND, the daughter of Robert and Inez (Spriggle) Buck. When she was two, her family moved to a homestead near Solen, ND. She attended elementary and high school in Solen. She graduated from high school in May 1938. After high school, she attended North Dakota State Teachers College in Dickinson. Upon graduation from the teachers college in 1941, she started teaching at a one room school house in Sioux Co. , ND. During the next 8 years she taught in Solen, Elgin, Belfield, Marmarth, and Baker schools. During her summer vacations and holidays, she helped out on the family farm in Solen and traveled around the US by train to visit family and friends. Laurice started teaching in Baker in August of 1948. She met her future husband, Eugene Duppler, that fall and they were married on July 7, 1949, in Mandan, ND. Together they made their home in Baker and raised 2 children. After she was married, Laurice became a full time homemaker. When her children were young, she was active in the Baker Community Church Sunday School serving as teacher and superintendent. She was an active member of the Baker Better Home Homemakers Club. She also enjoyed spending time with the many friends she had in Baker. Laurice was an accomplished seamstress. She spent many hours crafting clothes for herself, her children, and grandchildren. She developed a passion for quilt making and enjoyed planning and assembling appliqu?d, pieced, and around the world quilts. In her family, no special event passed without a quilt to mark the occasion. Laurice lived in Baker until May of 2009, when health concerns made it impossible for her to live alone. She moved to Fargo where she lived in a nursing home for 3 months until she was well enough to live with her daughter and son-in-law. In April 2010, she moved to Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, ND. Survivors include: a son, Alan Duppler of Fargo, ND; a daughter Valerie and her husband Allen Stockdale of Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, William (Kathleen) Duppler of Duluth, MN; Lynn Marie Duppler of Pullman, WA; and Steven Stockdale of Washburn, ND; three brothers Walter (Jackie) Buck of Mandan, ND; Charles (Elizabeth) Buck of Orono, ME; and Ardy (Deloris) Buck of Forsyth, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene Duppler, her daughter-in-law Norma Nelson Duppler, and her brother Revere Buck.
