Lavern Roth
A funeral service for Lavern K. Roth, 79, of Tacoma, WA, formerly of Glen Ullin will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST, Friday, February 16, 2018, at First Congregational UCC, Glen Ullin with Pastor Gaylund Olson officiating. Burial will be take place in the Glen Ullin Cemetery.
Visitation for Lavern will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at First Congregational UCC with a prayer service being held at 4:00 p.m. CST.
Lavern passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018, at home surrounded by his family.
Lavern was born October 15, 1938 in Glen Ullin, ND, the son of August and Esther (Hintz) Roth. Growing up, he attended school through the seventh grade. On August 1, 1964, Lavern married Grace Palloch in St. James Catholic Church in Porcupine, ND. They were blessed with a son, Todd Alan and daughter, Lisa Marie. Lavern worked in construction most of his life, working for Weinberger Construction in ND and MT; Lavern also worked for ranchers in ND for many years. Lavern and Grace moved to Tacoma, WA in 1976, where he built homes, retiring in 2001.
Lavern enjoyed wood working, spending time with family and friends, having breakfast and lunch with his friends, and watching western TV programs. He will be remembered as a compassionate man who had an infectious laugh and cared about everyone. Lavern will be missed by so many.
Lavern is survived by his wife, Grace of Tacoma, WA; son, Todd (Kay) Roth of Mandan, ND; daughter, Lisa (Eric) Roth-Van Horn of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren, DeAnn (Ben) Dingus, Christopher Roth, Matthew Lokken and Desiree Uttke, Kevin and Kyle (Megan) Brothers, Keaton and Landon Van Horn; five great-grandchildren; brother, Roland (Marilyn) Roth of Flasher, ND; sisters, Carol Marten of Whitefish, MT and Elda Mae Griese of Centralia, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Esther Roth; brothers, Marvin, Harlan, and Harold Roth; sister, Diane Schriock.
