Lavern Schmautz, known to all as ?Trigger, age 77, of Bismarck and formerly of Glen Ullin, died Friday, April 28, 2006 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held privately for the family with the Rev. David Ling, officiating. At the request of the family there will be no public visitation. Burial will be in the Congregational Cemetery in Hebron. Trigger was born January 1, 1929 on the family farm in Grant County south of Glen Ullin. He was raised in that area and attended Heart Butte School. He furthered his education with two years of high school at Elgin. He worked for Vic?s Mobil in Glen Ullin and then went to work in Bismarck. He returned to the area and worked on the Heart Butte Dam and later at the Garrison Dam. He married Charlotte Schwinkendorf, October 13, 1951at Mandan. In 1955 Trigger bought the home place and began farming. In the early 1990?s they moved to Bismarck. He retired from farming in 2001. Trigger like to keep busy so he spent many years hauling gravel and scoria near and far. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, and a past member of the Glen Ullin Lions. Trigger enjoyed a good game of cards with his friends and spending time flying in his airplane. He is survived by his wife Charlotte of Bismarck, ND; one brother: Allen and his wife Jean, of Thermopolis, WY and one sister: Shirley and her husband Francis Tibor, of Hebron and several nieces and nephews.
